Product - Level 4

To achieve a level 4 i will need to show creative use of technical skills such as:

• Use different shot type for photos
• Use mise-en-scene such as colours, setting, and props to appeal to the target audience
• Edit photos using photo editing software to improve the photos that i have taken
• Use appropriate language to relate to the audience and genre of magazine
• Effective integration of pictures and font to look appealing
• Show understanding of conventions of layout and page design
• Use different fonts and texts sizes
• Use ICT appropriately to create my magazine

What other students done well and how they achieve a level 4:

• Use of colour - relates to the genre of the magazine and stand outs - would appeal to the target audience
• The shot types of the photos
• Photos relate to the genre of magazine
• The language was appropriate and would appeal to the target audience
• The layout + page design followed magazine conventions
• They used a variety of fonts and text sizes to make certain parts of the text stand out more that others

I think that both magazines got a level 4 because they followed the conventions for a music magazine. The language, text, layout, pictures and font that they used appealed to the correct target audience. The colour schemes that they used made the pages stand out also they linked in well with the genre of magazine. The shots that were used for the images were good and they appealed to the target audience. The pages didn’t have to much information on them therefore it was easy to read and everything on the pages stood out.

I think that I would be able to achieve a level 4 as I am going to use a colour that stands out and that appeals to the target audience, also the colour scheme relates with the genre of the magazine. The images that I am going to take will also fit in with the music theme and would appeal to the audience; I will use a variety of shot types, distances and locations so that the magazine isn’t full of similar photos. The questions and answer I plan to use for my interview will be informal because this is what the audience would want to read. The layout for the magazine pages follow the conventions of a music magazine. I will put things such as the issue number and date on the front cover. The fonts that I am going to use are suitable for the magazine genre and I have a variety of font, I will also use different font sizes.

For my article I am going to do an interview. The results that I go back from the questionnaire show that having an interview in the magazine was popular. In the interview there will be questions about the band, there will also be gossip, fashion and where the band are in the music charts as these are other things that people wanted to see in the magazine.

How did you get into the music industry?

I use to sing at hotels and functions, and I had also loved the thought of having my own albums and performing in front of thousands of people. When I moved down to London I got in touch with the agent who was looking for new singers. I was perfect because I got exactly want I had wanted.

We hear you have a new album coming out, when it released and what can we expect from it?

Yes I do, the album is called (…) and it is coming out on (…).  There will be a mixture of songs on the album, all the songs have very different meanings to them, but I’m keeping quite now, you’ll have to wait until the album is out (laughs).

Do you have any celebrity crushes?

I do yeah, but who doesn’t?

So we hear you have been in the charts a few times over the year, what does it feel like when you hear your song has reached the charts?

Yeah I’ve had (…) get to the charts in (…), that single got to number 7, then in (…) my single (…) got to number 5, and now my single (…) is in the charts at number 2, so close to the top spot, I’m really hoping that it gets to number one, so keep buying the single everyone (laughs). It feels great when my songs get into the charts it’s such an achievement to have.

Have you got your family and friends behind you supporting you in your music career?

Yeah absolutely, there all great they have been there for me every step of the way, I am so grateful that they are there to support me. Ever since I was a little child by parents would also tell me how great I was at singing, even if it did annoy them that I would never stop.

What was it like doing your first gig?

It was amazing!!! I was so nervous but so excited at the same time, the emotions were crazy. Having (…) as a support act was brilliant because she knew exactly want to say to calm be down, and was a great laugh. The turnout for the gig was brilliant I was really impressed with how it al went.

We hear you’ve been thinking about bringing your own clothing label out, is there any truth in that?

I’ve been thinking about but I’m not sure whether I’m going to go ahead with it, I don’t mean to sound big headed but people have always told me that I am quite a fashionable person and having my own clothing line would be a great idea, that’s what encouraged me to do it, however I have been so tied up lately trying to get my new album perfect and now I would love a break.

What is it like filming videos for you songs?

Oh it brilliants, it’s funny and always a laugh. I feel sorry for the producers though, if I do the slightest think wrong I will want to start over and I won’t give up until it’s perfect, I am such a perfectionist (laughs).

Is it true that your planning some tours dates for the summer?

Yeah that is true, however I think it will be just after the summer now, I’m hoping to get it all sorted fairly soon and get the tickets on sale, I am really looking forward to do it.
